Leaf pick up, by the Fayette Public Works Department, will begin on Monday, October 24, 2016. Pick up will be Mondays and some Tuesdays (weather permitting). Last day for leaf pick up will be extended one week, making the last day on Monday, November 14, 2016 (weather permitting). Place raked leaves on the City parkway between the sidewalk and the back of the curb. If you don’t have curb, then place on the grassy area. Please DO NOT PLACE IN THE STREET!! Also, no tree branches or sticks should be mixed with the leaves.
The City Yard Waste Disposal Site is open on Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for disposing of branches, sticks, leaves and other yard waste. The Yard Waste Site will close for the winter after Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Yard waste may also be burned, but burning of trash is prohibited. Thank you for your cooperation in making Fayette a better place.
Now that fall is upon us and tree leaves will be in abundance on the ground, the City of Fayette wants to remind you that City Ordinance 135.08 prohibits the burning of leaves on any curb and gutter or on any paved or surfaced street or alley. A fire burns not only the leaves, but also the tar/oil in asphalt, and it cracks the concrete. Thank you for your concern and cooperation in taking care of our nice streets.
